About Rick on the Road
I am a 30-something freelance web developer based in Bristol, UK. I love Bristol and am proud to have called it home for over twelve years, but have daydreams packing my laptop, wife and son onto a magic mystery bus and traveling the world, earning a living from my laptop as I go.
We don't have a magic mystery bus, but i'm working on it! This site is a journal to log my experiences of working on the move, and running a business from a laptop with no permanent office. Starting with a road trip or two in our very impractical VW beetle, I'll write about the adventures and experiences as I go.
When i'm not on a road trip, I still like to work from different locations rather than being tied to an office, so i'll talk about that too. Some examples so far of my impromptu office locations are campsites, cafe's, the back garden, the train, a car dealership and even a film shoot on an old military base!
I'll try to leave most of the web geek stuff to my other blog, but will talk about the equipment, gadgets, and tools I experiment with to keep me working and connected on the road.
